Shivalinga – Movie Review

Movie starts with a murder of Rahim( Shakti) on a running train, but this murder projected as a suicide. His lover and fiancée Sangeetha goes forward to the commissioner and requests to reopen the case and investigate. The case is given to Shivalingeshwaran (Raghava Lawrence ) a CB-CID officer who takes up the case. He moves in with his newly wedded wife Sathya( Rithika singh) near to the town of the investigation. As the case progresses things gets strange in the house and Sathya becomes curious towards Shiva’s case. What’s the connection with Sathya to the case ? and how shiva brings light to the case is the rest of the story.
P.Vasu remakes his own Kannada version to Tamil , the only difference is the energetic Raghava Lawrence who takes the lead role. Though the story starts dull, Raghava Lawrence and Vadivelu brings in humour and makes it alive. But repetitive scenes and slow storytelling makes the movie boring. Rithika singh doesn’t get into the character , she is just better in dancing with Lawrence . Shakti overacting get into the nerves of the audiences , he seems to be acting in his own film within the film itself. Over exaggerated cast just fills the screen creating noise and nonsense. Shivalinga offers nothing new and just keeps giving an overlooked meal. I give it 3/10

Aandavan Kattalai – Movie Review

c11184af-b234-4c9d-9e86-e41ce884383f

Gandhi (Vijay Sethupathy) is a young man living in a village near Madurai. His misfortunes in business leave him with lot of debt. To get out his debts he decides to go to Abroad to find a job and make money. He leaves with his close friend Paandi ( Yogi Babu) to Chennai to get a passport and apply his visa. Both of them get linked to a travel agent through his friend who falsifies his documents as a married man to get a London visa. Gandhi’s misfortunes follow him when he fails to get the visa and is stuck with falsified passport as a married man. He gets into more trouble to when he tries to clear his marital status, how he gets out of this is the rest of the story.

Manikandan gives us yet another story of desperation , but on the lighter note. The film is not just hilarious but also gives a slap in the face on the corrupt system and how the lower middle suffers from it day to day. Vijay Sethupathy along with a great cast delivers a wonderful performance throughout. Yogi babu’s performance is a notable one and you tend to miss him in the second half. Ritika singh’s lip sync was a problem but her acting shields that. Screen play is well balanced with lot of scenarios which the audience could relate to. With a flawless first half and a slow but steady second half Aandavan Kattalai gets 6/10

Irudhi Suttru – Movie review

maxresdefault

.

Prabhu (Madhavan) is a foul mouthed, arrogant but one of best boxing coach in India. His attitude transfers him from the national academy of Hisar to Chennai with a false sexual harassment charges. He starts training women boxers in Chennai but doesn’t see any grit from any of them. One day he sees Madhi (Rithika) a wisher women who has the talent and the spirt which could be make her the best boxer. But Madhi doesn’t take boxing seriously, and Prabhu has to bribe her to come for training. How Prabhu makes Madhi a star and what problems they face makes the rest of the story.

A boxing or even a sports story in Tamil film very rare, and many films deviate from the main theme and end bad. But Sudha and team have made the film short and perfect; the film never deviates from the main theme, though predictable and overdone in few places it just moves in a steady pace. Madhavan is just perfect for the role and Rithika is just dominates the whole film. special mention for nassar for his role as asst coach. Songs and music are done well and support the film. Cinematography by Siva makes every scene pleasurable. Satish Soorya’s editing makes the film crisp and fast and never allows the audience to lay back. Irudhi Suttru may not be a great film but there is something deep which touches everyone’s heart. I give it 5/10
