RRR – Movie review

RRR released with nearly 75 percent of theatres running the movie in many regional languages in 2d, 3D & in IMAX screens. Movie which takes place in the pre-independent India, which was dominated by the British. A tribal girl is taken away from her village as a salve by the British governor’s wife. The tribe’s protector Bheem (Jr. NTR) vows to bring her back safely. Meanwhile the Governor puts a bounty on him and commands his police force to bring him as a prisoner. Ram (Ram Charan) who is British cop tries to use this as an opportunity to rise in command in the law enforcement by capturing Bheem. But no one knows that Ram has a huge agenda behind his dream to rise in power. What happens when both of these fearless warriors get into battle forms the rest of story.

Rajamouli had made sure that RRR is spectacular on every frame , every technical and creative department had taken pain and meticulously worked to give their best. RRR was filled with many goose bump moments which will mesmerise you throughout. Each Character was built and given optimum balance to sustain in the movie. Both Lead actors have given their best and kudos to the director to have brought them together for this. Ali Bhat has a brief role; she makes good from it. But it was Ajay Devgan who gives strong impact in his small screen time. Music by Keeravani was to the best and lays the foundation to this movie, his BGM’s elevates most of the scenes. The only drawback for me was the duration in the midway, were there was some lag and a brief period towards the end of the climax. The Action Packed RRR gets a roaring 7/10

Radhe Shyam movie review

The Movie set in the mid 1970’s in the city of Rome, talks about the renowned Palmist Vikram Adithya (Prabhas) also known as the Einstein of palmistry. He can predict your future with 100% accuracy upon reading your hand. Adithya claims that he does not have a love-line and wants flirtationship and not a relationship. So he only has short relationship and ends any when it reaches certain point. Until he meets Prena (Pooja hedge) a young doctor who lives everyday with full of life and love. As Prena and Adithya come close to each other, He predicts a bright future for Prena, but little does he know that Prena has only a few months to live. Does Adithya’s prediction come true and what’s the real reason for Adithya’s non-committal relationship forms the rest of the future. Radhe Shyam starts very slow to set the characters in place and to form a storyline, though the story is established midway it fails to strengthen with a strong screenplay and ends predictably. Prabhas and Pooja Hegde look fabulous frame to frame, thanks to the visual artistry of Manoj Paramahamsa and brilliant costume and Set design. But the story is weak and fails to impress. Other cast members are very stale. The visual grandeur overtakes everything at a certain point you just stare at the background and forget there is story connected with it. So forget logic & storyline, mesmerize yourself in the visuals, look at Prabhas and Pooja as models in a grand AD commercial, the whole 150 mins of it and comeback. Radhe Shyam gets 5/10 only for the technical extravaganza.

Etharkkum Thunindhavan – Movie review

The story starts with a lot of distress calls between the law enforcement and a series of murders happening. A phone call to a very concerned Kosalai (Saranya) delivers a message saying Kannabiraan your son has murdered 4 people. A very casual father Aadhirayar (Sathyaraj) sitting beside her assures their son has murdered 7 and not 4 people. Thus the introduction of our hero Kannabiraan (Suriya) is done. We go in to flash back from his point of view as The story is about two villages — Vada Naadu and Then Naadu. The region for long, has had a practice of Vada Naadu men taking brides from families in Then Naadu . Upon one family feud, a bride commits suicide and this tradition is broken which includes the temple event of shivan and paarvathi too. Using this divide between the villages and noninterference of the Aadhirayar’s family on his village daughters, Inbha (Vinay) central minister’s son, and his gang exploit unsuspecting young women in the name of love. His gang shoot videos of them in compromising positions, and uses the videos to blackmail the victims. When Kannabhiran interferes in this Inbha and his gang targets his family. How Kannabiraan deals with them and saves the daughters of his village is the rest of the story.

Being a major release in theatres, audience are seeing Suriya after nearly three years on screen. Suriya definitely suits the portrayal of the main role and does justice to the character. Pandiraj who is well known to bring family audience, doesn’t disappoint either. The first half progresses with fun and building the crux of the story, but the second half falls to predictable and the end climax falls flat considering the buildup in the first half.  Though the plot is setup and moves for an end, unnecessary scenes prolong the climax which doesn’t make sense.  Songs disappoint and costumes for suriya were atrocious in them. BGM makes up for the disappointing music from Imman. Priyanka mohan gets good screen time and she does makes use of it to show that she can work on some good characters. Vinay’ acting doesn’t show much improvement, except for his weird laughter. ET speaks on some important issues and covers the family audience, but duration and packaging of content good be better. ET gets 5/10
