Kavalai Vendam – Movie Review

main1

Aravind(Jiva) and Divya(Kajal) are childhood friends , they fall in love when they are in college and decide to get married even though Divya’s parents oppose it. But thier marriage doesn’t last even for a day as they get separated by a childish fight. Years later Divya decides to remarry and goes to Arjun to get a divorce. Arjun who still loves Divya decides to win her back , so agrees to give Divya the divorce on one condition she lives with him for 1 week as husband and wife.Whether Arjun gets back Divya or Divya gets her Divorce is the rest of the story.

Surprisingly with no twists or turns and a predictable story, Kavalai Vendam doesn’t ends up dull , but manages to entertain a bit. But with absolutely zero screenplay and only with dirty jokes and crazy one liners from RJ Balaji this movie cannot survive long in theaters.Though Jiva seems fit for the role, he can do better by  choosing the right films. Other than Abhinandhan’s camera work there is nothing to cheer about technically. “kavalai vendam” can be skipped with no worries .i give it 3/10

Dear Zindagi – Movie Review

dear-zindagi-full-movie

Kaira ( Alia Bhatt) a cinematographer by profession is looking for herhuge break in films, as she has had enough of doing countless ads and patch work for others. Though her professional life is great her personal life is in shambles as she cannot keep up a decent relationship. She is afraid  when it comes to commitment and breaks it  .This finally get to her when she realizes that it’s affecting her work and behavior and ends up with insomnia. That’s when she meetsDr.Jehangir Khan ( Shah Rukh Khan) a therapist who comes to her rescue. How Kaira fights her demons of her past and present to face reality is the rest of the story.
Dear Zindagi is one the feel good films which actually makes audiences relate to their own lives. Director Guari Shinde gives us a straight forward story with a decent screenplay to achieve this. Alia Bhatt carries the whole film with ease and shines in her role. Shah Rukh Khan adds class without dominating the main cast and adds luster. Duration might be the only culprit which makes it little dull. Though predictable at times, the director keeps the audiences entertained throughout and makes the film flow easily and ends it well. I give it 6/10

Kadavul irukan kumaru – Movie review

image

Kumar (G V Prakash) along with his friend Balaji ( R J Balaji) leaves to Pondicherry on the eve of wedding to have his bachelor’s party. His fiancée Priya ( Nikki Galrani) who is a control freak , allows this as a last party as Kumar convinces that he is having this party to forget his ex girlfriend Nancy (Anandhi) and to become clean after this. But tragedy strikes in Pondicherry and Kumar gets into trouble with the law. How he manages to get back to his wedding is the rest of the story.
With a very known and a predictable story , Kadavul irukan kumaru starts very dull ,but comedy track keeps you alive. G V Prakash manages to fits the character, though needs to work on his acting skills. Both Anandhi and Nikki Galrani have less screen time and very less to offer. Director’s decision for a different voice for Anandhi fails miserably. R J Balaji’s comedy track and Prakash Raj’s character helps the film move and forget the dull and disastrous screenplay. Overall KIK is a movie which can be skipped. I give it 3/10

Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada – Movie review

image

Simbhu our hero is a happy young man, with good friends and family his life was peaceful , until the day he sees his sisters’ friend Leela (Manjima Mohan). He falls in love with her and things get even more exciting as she comes to stay in their house for a while. As his romance builds, he enjoys her company and gets to know her better. When he plans a secret road trip on his bike,Leela surprises him and joins him on the trip. How the trip changes both their lives is the rest of the story.
There is no doubt that Gautham Menon knows the pulse of this generation, and proves that once again with this movie. With romance and the adrenaline level raised among the young audience, this film is hit among them. Simbhu has performed with maturity and handled his character well. Manjima made a decent performance on her debut in this Tamil movie. The first half just floats in romance and breezes thru, the second half is where the real story begins and where action and the drama unfolds. ARR at his best and songs visually composed well balances this romantic thriller well. Though romance and action scenes blended well , the story suffers without a direction and is rushed in the second half especially in the last half hour. This spoils the whole film and the audience leave frustrated. He could have increased the film’s duration to another 10 mins which might added value and support his ending. I give the film 5/10
