Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya movie review : Its “POWER FULL”

Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya : Its “POWER FULL”

Although “Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya” is the remake of “Indru Poi Naalai Vaa” it has a unique modern aspect with loads of laughter throughout. Santhanam who also happens to be the producer of this film is normally known to be a crowd-puller but it is ‘Power star’ Srinivasan who shadows everyone and makes the movie a fun ride.

Director Manikandan needs to be appreciated for keeping things simple and gives all the three leads almost equal screen time. The film maintains an easy pace throughout and even if you feel a little lag, there is something coming on screen which makes you roll with laughter. Vishaka , the heroine did a decent job but was still a supporting cast with Kovai Sarala and others. Songs could have been better and the music was average. But if you are looking for just entertainment without logic this is the film for you. I give it 6/10

Alex Pandian – Movie Review

Movie_Stills_68369692565

Alex Pandian

The plot involves a petty criminal Alex Pandian who abducts the Chief Minister’s daughter for villains who in turn plan to hold her for ransom to get the Chief Minister to allow them to sell imported banned antibiotics. He then falls in love with her then saves her from these villains.

Alex Pandian had everything for a foundation for a block buster – a star Jodi (Karthi and Anushka), DSP’s music including ‘Bad Boys’ video which was played every 15mins in all channels, one of the best comedian who had a good chemistry with the lead role and the best promotions ever seen in the Tamil industry. All the above said was not even used to a percentage in the film. The star Jodi had 20mins of screen time together including the songs and that too only in the 2nd half of the film. DSP’s music was a letdown throughout the film, the only song which passed muster is Bad Boy.  Unfortunately this comes after the movie ends alongside the credits. Santhanam‘s comedy makes you remember ‘Lollu Sabha’ in the first half of the film. The comedy becomes vulgar with double meaning jokes involving his three sisters and Karthi and what was Mano Bala doing in the film?

Overall, Alex Pandian is a waste of time and money; I give it a 2/10.

Kumki – Movie Review

kumki

Kumki – A name given to an elephant that is used to tame wild elephants and send them back to the forests. The story follows Bomman played by debut hero Vikram Prabhu and his elephant Manickam into the village Aathi Kadu to fend off a wild elephant called Komban, who in turn has been causing havoc for many years. Bomman falls in love with Alli, daughter of the village chief. What really happens in their lives forms the rest of the story.

Vikram Prabhu does a good job in his debut film, His hard work and dedication are obvious in the screen and we can expect more from him in his upcoming films. Laksmi Menon acts natural to her character in the film and delivers well in the film. Thambi Ramiah who plays the hero’s uncle dominates the first half of the movie with his one liners and gestures. Music director Imman scores 10/10 with melodious songs which linger in your memory even after the movie ends. Kumki is a visual extravagance by Sukumar, whose cinematography is also a key to the success of the film. Overall Prabhu Solomon has given us a neat film with and original story, adding one more feather to his cap.

On the down side the VFX of the elephant action scenes were not up to the mark. The story lost its pace in the second half and it was an awkward and an abrupt ending in the movie.

I give the movie 5/10

Why Jack Reacher fails to reach the audience

Why Jack Reacher fails to reach the audience

The movie starts off with a sniper looking through his rifle’s scope and shooting shots at random human targets; killing five. The Police make the arrest immediately, on interrogation and the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!”.

The movie was looking good until Tom Cruise’s dialogue starts – It really felt like watching a poor version of Dirty Harry. A lot of the dialogue and plot twists seemed awkward. The violence is plenty but pointless. Some scenes just drag on too long and others feel like they should have been cut out altogether. A car chase in a red Chevy and beating up a group of guys in a bar (which you might have already scene in the trailers) were the key action scenes in the film.

I didn’t like “Jack Reacher,” and I didn’t hate it either. Maybe I hated it more that Tom Cruise playing the character which was suited more for Van Damme or even worse Nicolas Cage.

I give it 5/10 popcorn meter5 copy
