Karthik Subburaj’s new venture talks about arrogant men and how their decisions affects their family, especially their women. Arul (SJ Surya) is a noted filmmaker who is now struggling to release his new film. His close mates are Jagan (Bobby Simha) his brother and Micheal (Vijay Sethupathy) their close friend who works with their father Radha Ravi a famous temple sculptor. Frustrated that his film is not released Arul becomes an alcoholic and gets into trouble constantly, this even provokes his wife Yazhini (Kamalini Mukharjee) to get a divorce from him. After an argument with the producer Arul finally tries to buy out the film, but his cut short of money. To get money Jagan then plans to rob one of rare temple statue and sell it abroad with help of Micheal and friends. What fate has installed for them forms the rest of the story.
More than Male arrogance and uncontrollable anger , the film subtly tells you about how your family suffers from rash decisions and meaningless ego in which men are soaked in. Well scripted movie and extraordinary acting by the whole cast makes Iravi a winner. SJ Surya performance was best of all, he lives the character and dominates the film. Vijay Sethupathy though underplays in the first half , takes over the second half in his shoulders. Kamalini and Pooja Devariya perform well, while Anjali as Ponny performs in a key role which defines the film.Negatives of the film is the duration which could have been trimmed, and songs by Santhosh Narayan was disappointing . Mostly natural sounds and Illairaja’s songs dominate the Bgm. An intriguing script balanced by good performance makes Iravi a must watch. I give it 7/10
