Govardhan (Vijay Deverakonda) an architect and devoted family man from the middle class, proudly displays his determined attitude. Despite carefully managing his household finances (even stretching batter to make delicate dosas last longer!), his family, comprising his grandmother (played by Rohini Hattangadi), two brothers, sisters-in-law, and their children, remains his top priority. Rather than viewing his obligations as burdensome, he sees them as his duty. But when necessary, he’s capable of displaying his strength and resilience, even bending iron with his muscles. Things go his usual way until the moment Indu (Mrunal Thakur), a student, moves in as a tenant, his life takes a new turn, just as things appear to smoothly, Govardhan is faced with an astonishing truth from Indu. This changes everything in Govardhan’s life. how this ends up is the rest of the movie.
After the super hit Geetha Govidham Parasuram Petla & Vijay deverkonda reuite in Family star. Vijay Deverakonda gives heart to the middle-class character and gives a good performance along with Mrunal Thakur. The lead pair’s chemistry works and keeps us engaged. The whole cast though under utilised manages to give a good act. As all goes well in the first half, the Director fails to keep us engaged in the second half. Screenplay is very predictable and often reminds us of Geetha Govindham. Gopi Sundar’s music keeps us a little awake but BGM could be better, but nothing new. Family Star still gets 5/10
