Poojai

Vasu (Vishal) is a small time financier in a vegetable market, gets targeted by Anna Thandavam (Mukesh Tiwari) a big shot gangster, when he foils his plans of killing a honest ADSP Sivakkozhundhu (Satyaraj). Later when Anna Thandavam dishonors Vasu’s uncle, he hits the gangster in a public place and the latter decides to take revenge on him and his family. How Vasu protects his family from the villain forms rest of the story.

Hari’s film always has a neat formula in storytelling, this film is no different there is always a loop of a fight scene, comedy scene, love scene and a sentiment scene till the end of the film .Vishal performance is flawless and his supported by small town of actors, actresses, character artists and junior artists who are well supported by a never-ending coil of screen play. This film has story content of three films which is cramped into one. Shruti Hassan has a fair bit of screen time in the film in which she does a decent job. Soori‘s attempt to recreate yesteryear’s Gownder and Senthil comedy is just a waste of time, his comedy scenes could have been edited all together. Satyaraj has the same amount screen time as the time he is shown in the trailers, so do not expect him more in the film. Songs doesn’t help much and the background score is always louder. Cinematographer Priyan has a close bound with the Director and always delivers, but his repeated fly cam shots have become boring and gives headaches through out . Poojai is lengthy Maggie masala noodle. I give it 5/10
