A group of IT employees make friends with Royapuram Peter (Sivakarthikeyan) and ask him to take part in boxing tournament in which they will sponsor him. Incidentally these friends know that he will win this tournament as they come to possession of a Newspaper from the future from a saint who grants them a wish. Initially very reluctant to join the tournament just plays along with the group and use them to his needs. When he meets Yazhini (Hansika) he falls in love and in order to impress his leading lady, decides to train and enters the boxing tournament. Things get more complicated when the friends find out there is an another Peter a professional boxer is also in the tournament. Who will win the tournament? Whether the IT friends made a mistake in identifying the winner? Will Peter and Yazhini get together? The rest forms the story.
If this story has really come out from one of most acclaimed director and writer Murugadoss , I am sorry at the plight of Tamil cinema. The script defies every logical term and treats the audience as fools. Even the title Maan karate is introduced foolishly. Sivakarthikeyan has done nothing new, other than he had improved his dancing skills. Hansika as usual doesn’t do much of acting and only accompanies Sivakarthikeyan in the songs. Songs provide subtle breaks in between but their execution to screen is a mess .Nothing much about the rest of cast, except for Satish who throws one liners now and then. The first half is just filled with meaningless comedy and second half drags along. The movie will still move over a week in theaters care of the crazy fans of Sivakarthikeyan, but I give it 3/10
