Bramman – movie review

24 Feb

Story set in Coimbatore where we see two close friends Siva and Kumar who are crazy about films get separated at a very young age. Kumar (Naveen Chandra) becomes a film director and Siva (Sasikumar) grows up to run a local theatre. Siva is often criticized by everyone for not developing a career and wasting time and money on the theater.  When circumstances lead to closure of the theater, he leaves to Chennai to meet his friend for his help. Whether he meets his friends and reopens the theater makes the rest of the story.

A Simple and small story with content for only 90mins has been dragged for more than 2 hours , the main plot which actually happens only in the second half of the film is also loosely fitted.  The story could have been structured well, other than an empty first half. DSP’s music doesn’t stick to the movie and the cinematographer’s work is very mediocre. The main culprit in the film is the songs which are placed randomly and are filled with horrible moves of Sasi Kumar. It’s clear that he is not comfortable in songs, so why do they make him dance and make the audience uncomfortable? Sasikumar clearly doesn’t fit this role either .New face Lavanya plays the love interest of Sasikumar in the film, she looks attractive but needs to improve on her acting skills. Santhanam and Soori provide some comic relief but don’t stand out in the dull and boring film. .  I give it 2/10
