The Conjuring is based on the true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), who are paranormal investigators who are called by the Perron family who are tormented by paranormal disturbances in their new home.
Clearly the best horror film of the year as it’s well-crafted to keep the audiences in the edge of their seats. After a very scary prologue with a possessed doll sets the demonic tone, we’re taken to the main story of a happy couple and their five darling daughters moving into an obviously haunted house. Attention to detail shows in the production and the costume design to maintain the retro look. The musical score sets a menacing and a creepy tone. A modest acting through out by all actors , Vera Farmiga, Lili Taylor do justice to their roles .Though the ending doesn’t strike me as big enough .Editing could have been crisp and the storm of crows circling the house could have been avoided. But this is a horror film where a pair of suddenly clapping hands gives you goose bumps. I give it 7/10
