Pacific Rim

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea.To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots.

Pacific Rim” directed by Guillermo Del Toro was one of my most expected film this year, to my expectations the action sequences and effects are spectacular , the detail the giant monsters were given in terms of texturing and animation was just superb .Saying that the film didn’t have anything else to offer. With a very weak and a predictable storyline the only thing which was entertaining was the action sequences between the robots and the monsters. The action sequences are well thought out and the sound effects compliment the visuals without fail, but at time you just see only part of the monster or the robot. Visually the frames looked colorful and attractive but during the action sequence u just simply see fire, sparks and metal alone. With no great performances from any of the actors you just have to wait for an action sequence to follow. the so called ‘Drift ‘ which blends the minds of the pilots and basically enables them to know each others thoughts and memories which they need two pilots to work in tandem to control the Jaegers is the only original idea of the film.I saw it in Dolby Atmos and 3D which was not worth at all, 3D maybe at times but I did not feel the Atmos experience. But if you are a hardcore fan of Giant robot the Series and spectacular CGI action sequences like me, you will love Pacific Rim. I give it 10/10 for CGI and visual effects but I give it 5/10 for the movie.
