Soodhu kaavum :
Vijay Sethupathi’s first film of the year and it’s directed by Nalan Kumararaswamy who has already has gained popularity in Kalaignar Tv’s reality show Naalaiya Iyakkunar. This film is hilarious and full of entertainment. The story revolves around three jobless friends who come under the wing of Vijay Sethupathy who is a small time crook who forms the gang to take his level up as a kidnapper. All goes well until they plan a kidnapping of a politician and the story takes a twist with betrayal and comedy of errors and ends with a decent climax.
Having given back to back hits Vijay Sethupathy has under played in this film, but has done justice to his character. The cast has been skillfully selected for this comedy feature. Dialogues are very casual and are well thought for every character. Cinematography by Dinesh krishnan is rich and colorful. Santhosh narayan’s the music director has delivered with his songs but his background score needs more work. They have tried a experimental role for Sanchita Shetty but unfortunately it backfires, it would have been better if she was not in the film at all. Performances of Yog Japee as the encounter specialist and Karuna Karan as the kidnapped politician son is worth mentioning .The thing I like about this movie is it doesn’t have heroes or villains every character has some amount of craziness and perfection. Great debut film for the Director although the film could have been trimmed for at least 15 mins which would have made this film even better. I give the film 6/10
